Our Story
BlackBelt Rehab grew from two worlds coming together: high-level sport and life on the mats.
Over more than two decades as a physiotherapist, our work has spanned high performing clinical settings in Brazil, Olympic and Commonwealth Games environments, and years supporting combat sports athletes on competition floors. Along the way came advanced training in trauma, orthopaedics, and sports physiotherapy, shaping an approach that values structure, progression, and long-term results.
But this clinic was not built from textbooks or clinics alone. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has been part of life since the early 1990s, first in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, and later in Australia. Like many practitioners, the journey has not been linear, interrupted by injuries, surgeries, time away from the mats for life reasons, and the challenges of returning again and again.Those experiences matter and helped shapping our practice.
Having lived through multiple injuries and surgeries, we understand what it feels like to lose momentum, identity, and confidence, and how important the right support is when rebuilding. Jiu-jitsu is seen not just as a sport, but as a way of life: a teacher of discipline, resilience, humility, and connection.
That blend of clinical experience and lived understanding is what defines BlackBelt Rehab and how we care for the jiu-jitsu community and anyone who wants to move pain-free, train, and live better.






Meet The Team

Bruno Rebello
Physiotherapist
I am a Physiotherapist with over 20 years of experience in sports, musculoskeletal, manual therapy, and post-operative rehabilitation. My work is grounded in a practical, evidence-informed approach, helping clients recover from injury, manage pain, restore movement, and return to the activities that matter most to them.
My background has given me extensive experience working with a wide range of people, from everyday clients managing neck, back, shoulder, hip, and knee pain, through to athletes recovering from complex injuries or surgery. I have a particular interest in supporting Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and grappling athletes, combining my clinical experience with a strong understanding of the physical demands of combat sports.
I use a combination of hands-on manual therapy, movement assessment, targeted rehabilitation exercises, education, and practical strategies to support recovery. My approach focuses on understanding each person’s goals, identifying the factors contributing to their symptoms, and creating a clear treatment plan that is realistic, structured, and tailored to their needs.
I believe physiotherapy works best when clients feel heard, supported, and actively involved in their recovery. Whether the goal is returning to training, improving daily function, recovering after surgery, or simply moving without fear, I aim to provide professional guidance, effective hands-on care, and genuine support throughout the rehabilitation journey.

Kamila Rebello
Counsellor
I am a Counsellor with a strong foundation in allied health and a deep understanding of the connection between emotional wellbeing, trauma, and physical health, I provide a safe and supportive space for clients to explore challenges, build resilience, and move toward meaningful change. My work is grounded in a trauma-informed, person-centred approach, recognising that each individual’s story, experiences, and healing journey are unique.
My background in healthcare has given me extensive experience working alongside people navigating chronic pain, stress, emotional distress, and life transitions. This has strengthened my understanding of how trauma, nervous system dysregulation, and psychological wellbeing can influence both mental and physical health.
I am passionate about supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma-related difficulties, emotional overwhelm, grief, adjustment challenges, and personal growth needs. My approach focuses on creating genuine therapeutic connection, emotional safety, and practical strategies that empower clients to better understand themselves, strengthen coping skills, and move forward with confidence.
I believe counselling is a collaborative process where healing, self-awareness, and growth can occur through compassion, trust, and meaningful therapeutic support.
